In recent years, much has been made about the homosexual overtones of “Top Gun”, but I did not get that vibe at all. I watched intently, trying to pick up clues that might suggest any homoerotic or outright gay themes, but none could be detected.

After my viewing, I felt that I wasn’t quite cool enough to “get it”. “Black Swan” is an art film at it’s core, and my jeans aren’t tight enough to appreciate it.

“The Fighter” is at a disadvantage. To be a really special boxing film, you’ve got to bring something new to the table. It’s nearly impossible to be original when every angle has been covered.
First Time Viewing: Wall Street 0
Not often, within a single film, will you see an Oscar winning performance (from a deserving Michael Douglas) surrounded by an absolutely dreadful supporting cast.

“The Social Network” will benefit from the fact that it’s a solid film in a rather unspectacular year. Though it was an accomplishment to take this story and make it interesting, that doesn’t mean that it’s wildly entertaining. It’s not.
